Quote of the day #16

Perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim
~Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you

Day-to-day things, the ordinary, the mundane is what keeps the motor running. How extraordinary the ordinary really is, a tool we all use to keep going, a template for sanity.

~Cecelia Ahern 'Thanks for the Memories'

Quote of the day #15

I'll suffer day and night, night and day. This could take weeks, months, possibly a year or more. Until one morning, I'll wake up and find I'm thinking about something else, and then I'll know the worst is over. My heart might be bruised, but it will recover and become capable of seeing the beauty of life once more... When someone leaves, it's because someone else is about to arrive - I'll find love again.

----

All you have to do is to pay attention; lessons always arrive when you are ready, and if you can read the signs, you will learn everything you need to know in order to take the next step.

----

The world will become real when man learns how to love; until then we will live in the belief that we know what love is, but we will always lack the courage to confront it as it truly is. Love is an untamed force. When we try to control it, it destroys us. When we try to imprison it, it enslaves us. When we try to understand it, it leaves us feeling lost and confused.

----

When the Unwanted Guest arrives...
I might be afraid.
I might smile or say:
My day was good, let night fall.
You will find the fields ploughed, the house clean,
the table set,
and everything in its place.
~Manuel Bandeira 'Consoada'

----

"He died while he was still alive."

----

... and if I were to die then, despite all that had happened in my life, despite all my failures, ... the injustices I had suffered or inflicted on others, I had remained alive until the last moment, and could, with all certainty, affirm: "My day was good, let night fall."

----

That is why it is so important to let certain things go. To release them. To cut loose. People need to understand that no one is playing with marked cards; sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Don't expect to get anything back, don't expect recognition for your efforts, don't expert your genius to be discovered or your love to be understood. Complete the circle. Not out of pride, inability, or arrogance, but simply because whatever it is no longer fits in your life. Close the door, change the record, clean the house, get rid of the dust. Stop being who you were and become who you are.

----

I was not I, I was nothing - and that seemed to me quite marvelous.

A warrior of light knows that he has much to be grateful for. He was helped in his struggle by the angels... His companions say: "He's so lucky!" But he knows that "luck" is knowing to look around him and to see where his friends are, because it was through their words that the angels were able to make themselves heard.

~Paulo Coelho 'The Zahir'
